Eric had gone to bed, but lay there awake until Collin called. He knew that Collin would call—his boy would be all stressed out and need to talk. Eric planned on listening to and then relaxing him.

The phone rang at 12:03. Eric spent most of the first half of the conversation making agreeable noises, right up until Collin said, “And then I was outed.”

Eric’s heart knocked on his ribs, wanting him to take some action, and he sat up in bed. “Who outed you? Give me his name.” I’ma kill him.

“Mmm, are you going all protective bear on me?” Collin sounded something other than anxious, annoyed, or fed up for the first time since they’d started talking.

“Gimme his name. He won’t feel a thing, I swear.” He could take some of the outdated drugs from the station and—

Collin laughed, then sighed. “It’s not like that, it was an accident. They all freaking knew, everyone in the frat, and they thought I knew they knew. Tank just mentioned it naturally in conversation.”

Tank. He’d remember that name.

“And don’t bother thinking you’re going to have a word with Tank. He’s huge and mean when you provoke him.”

“You don’t think I can take him?”

“No. I’m sorry, you know I adore you, but no. He’s fifteen years youn—”

“You adore me?” Eric leaned back against his headboard.

Collin caught his breath. “Well . . . yeah. You knew that, didn’t you?”

He really shouldn’t tease his sweet young thang. Much. “Last I heard, you only really, really liked me. I think adoration is a whole new level of affection.”

He could hear a smile in Collin’s voice. “Like, what kind of whole new level?”

“Mmm, depends.”

“On what?”

“On what you’re wearing.”

There was a moment of confused silence. “Like, right now?”

Eric smirked to himself. “Yeah, right now. What’re you wearing?”

“That sounds like . . .”

“The beginning of phone sex?”

Collin sucked in a breath. “I can’t have phone sex.”

“Well, you aren’t having it alone, sweetheart.” He slid his hand under the hem of his tee, working upward on his belly. Collin wasn’t much of a nipple guy, but he liked it.

“I mean, because I’m about to get my new roommate.”

He slid his hand out of his shirt. “Roommate?” Crap.

“Yeah. It’s Tank’s little brother, Jock. That’s why the whole thing about me being gay came up. Jock just moved here and started school because he got outed to his hockey coach at the college he was at, then kicked off the team. Whoever outed him are the guys you should be planning to maim, not Tank.”

“What happened?”

“He won’t really talk about it. What I told you is pretty much all I know, and it’s more than I’m technically allowed to tell.”

Eric sighed and ran a hand across his head. That was kind of a mood killer. “What’s with outing people? I don’t get where the thrill is for the assholes who do it.”

“Neither do I, hon.”

“Mmm, you called me ‘hon.’”

“Yeah, but it’s not my pet name for you.” Eric could hear the slither of fabric over the phone.
