Eric had gone to bed, but lay there awake until Collin called. He knew that Collin would callâhis boy would be all stressed out and need to talk. Eric planned on listening to and then relaxing him.
The phone rang at 12:03. Eric spent most of the first half of the conversation making agreeable noises, right up until Collin said, âAnd then I was outed.â
Ericâs heart knocked on his ribs, wanting him to take some action, and he sat up in bed. âWho outed you? Give me his name.â Iâma kill him.
âMmm, are you going all protective bear on me?â Collin sounded something other than anxious, annoyed, or fed up for the first time since theyâd started talking.
âGimme his name. He wonât feel a thing, I swear.â He could take some of the outdated drugs from the station andâ
Collin laughed, then sighed. âItâs not like that, it was an accident. They all freaking knew, everyone in the frat, and they thought I knew they knew. Tank just mentioned it naturally in conversation.â
Tank. Heâd remember that name.
âAnd donât bother thinking youâre going to have a word with Tank. Heâs huge and mean when you provoke him.â
âYou donât think I can take him?â
âNo. Iâm sorry, you know I adore you, but no. Heâs fifteen years younââ
âYou adore me?â Eric leaned back against his headboard.
Collin caught his breath. âWell . . . yeah. You knew that, didnât you?â
He really shouldnât tease his sweet young thang. Much. âLast I heard, you only really, really liked me. I think adoration is a whole new level of affection.â
He could hear a smile in Collinâs voice. âLike, what kind of whole new level?â
âMmm, depends.â
âOn what?â
âOn what youâre wearing.â
There was a moment of confused silence. âLike, right now?â
Eric smirked to himself. âYeah, right now. Whatâre you wearing?â
âThat sounds like . . .â
âThe beginning of phone sex?â
Collin sucked in a breath. âI canât have phone sex.â
âWell, you arenât having it alone, sweetheart.â He slid his hand under the hem of his tee, working upward on his belly. Collin wasnât much of a nipple guy, but he liked it.
âI mean, because Iâm about to get my new roommate.â
He slid his hand out of his shirt. âRoommate?â Crap.
âYeah. Itâs Tankâs little brother, Jock. Thatâs why the whole thing about me being gay came up. Jock just moved here and started school because he got outed to his hockey coach at the college he was at, then kicked off the team. Whoever outed him are the guys you should be planning to maim, not Tank.â
âWhat happened?â
âHe wonât really talk about it. What I told you is pretty much all I know, and itâs more than Iâm technically allowed to tell.â
Eric sighed and ran a hand across his head. That was kind of a mood killer. âWhatâs with outing people? I donât get where the thrill is for the assholes who do it.â
âNeither do I, hon.â
âMmm, you called me âhon.ââ
âYeah, but itâs not my pet name for you.â Eric could hear the slither of fabric over the phone.
